Headshots NYC: An Introduction
Our stories likely share a common first chapter, a move to New York to study acting. A camera was often at my side around campus—my father, a photographer, had put one in my hands a few years earlier. With graduation at my conservatory approaching, classmates started coming back discouraged from their photo shoots. Noticing my camera, they asked for help. What began as casual shoots for classmates became the foundation for the work I still do more than twenty years later.
Getting The Shots: The Process
Having a stress-free headshot shoot is essential, but so is getting a shot that helps move your career forward.
For six years, I worked at a NYC talent agency that represented actors on Broadway and in major film and television productions.
I learned quickly that a good headshot helps an actor get into the audition rooms that matter. Despite conventional wisdom in the age of social media, a good headshot isn't just a pretty picture—it’s a shot that represents the roles you can book.
